Review CURRAGH 14th Sep

< Mastercraftsman extended his unbeaten run to four - but he was made to work extremely hard to land the Bank Of Scotland (Ireland) National Stakes at the Curragh.

Aidan O'Brien's 9-4 chance travelled nicely in the rain-soaked ground through the early stages under Johnny Murtagh, but still had some ground to make up on Shaweel entering the final furlong.

Shaweel was still marginally in front 50 yards from the line, but Mastercraftsman produced a strong surge to get up by a short head.< Arazan was sent off the 9-10 favourite having proved himself on heavy ground, but he could not go the pace of the front two and had to settle for third.

Murtagh added to his tally when quickly following up on board What's Up Pussycat in the Listed Rosaleen Kelly Blenheim Stakes.

Murtagh had to wait for the gaps to appear on the 4-1 chance, but once they did, she finished strongly to edge out Roof Fiddle by a short head.< Jumbajukiba left his poor effort at Leopardstown firmly behind him when making all to take the Ascon Rohcon Solonaway Stakes.

Always in command under Fran Berry, the 100-30 chance extended his lead on the turn for home and never looked like getting caught after that.< Prima Luce tried to give chase, but never got on terms, finishing a length and three quarters adrift. Favourite Zulu Chief was well beaten.< Nafaath got of the mark at the third time of asking in the Bank Of Scotland Ireland EBF Maiden.

Kevin Prendergast's 4-1 chance went in pursuit of long-time leader Four Star General two furlongs from the finish and held Lamzena Lady by one and a half lengths, with uneasy favourite Freemantle a disappointment.< Muskatsturm ploughed through the mud to finish a wide-margin winner of the Bank Of Scotland (Ireland) EBF September Handicap.

The 14-1 chance joined long-time leader Davorin on the home turn and once given his office, he bounded 15 lengths clear of Heavenly Blues
