Eddie Harty is stepping Captain Cee Bee up in trip for the first time in his career for the Boylesports.com Download Our App Lismullen Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.

Rather than asking the 12-year-old to take on the likes of Hurricane Fly and Our Conor over two miles, Captain Cee Bee will race over two and a half miles instead.

While he may not face Willie Mullins' crack hurdler, he still comes up against Mouse Morris's classy Rule The World, Tony Martin's Dedigout, Jessica Harrington's Jetson and the Gordon Elliott pair of Mala Beach and Un Beau Matin.

"He's in great form and looks fantastic. We decided we'd give him a chance over two and a half miles to see how he'd get on," said Harty.

"He's in there with a good chance if he gets the trip, whereas I wouldn't like to disappoint the old horse having to chase around the likes of Hurricane Fly. He's nearly 13 and it wouldn't be fair on him. He's been a good old servant and friend to me.

"He's an intelligent horse and knows well if he's been beaten, so you don't want to go disappointing him all the time chasing horses that realistically you are not going to beat. He also has the man of the moment on board (Tony McCoy), so fingers crossed.

"He showed no sign of his age at Tipperary last time, but by the same token you have to be aware of his age. He doesn't look to have lost any of his ability, and it will be interesting to see how he fares over two and a half."
