Carlito to tackle Buck's

Coral Cup winner Carlito Brigante could take on Big Buck's at Aintree next week as he steps up in trip and class.

The five-year-old made a mockery of a handicap mark of 140 when winning with ease in what is traditionally one of the toughest contests at the Cheltenham Festival.

His facile win has seen the handicapper raise him 17lbs to 157, and trainer Gordon Elliott now wants to test him at the highest level.

The Grade 1 BGC Liverpool Hurdle over three miles on April 7 will be his next port of call, potentially setting up a clash with Big Buck's who is going for a hat-trick in the race.

"He'll go to Aintree for the three-miler. He won well at Cheltenham and he's in good form. We'll step him up to three miles and we'll learn whether to continue hurdling with him next year or to go chasing. We'll see how good he is before making any decisions for next season."
