Carribs leaps into racecourse action Almost a year since a spectacular jump at the last saw Carribs Leap get home by a neck and a length from Chosen Native and Jetnova in a four-year-old maiden point-to-point at Durrow, the son of Old Vic begins his racecourse career at Ludlow today for Charlie Egerton in the Patricia Dovey Memorial Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race. That success for Roscrea, Co. Tipperary trainer, Jim Doyle (a brother of fellow trainer Pat), was gained on March 21st 2009 when Pa King sported the silks of former jump jockey Tom Rudd and his girlfriend Katie Clift. The following month bloodstock agent Aiden Murphy forked out £100,000 at the Cheltenham Brightwell Sale on behalf of Charlie Egerton. Jim Murphy had commented in the aftermath of Carribs Leap's point-to-point win: "This is a really good horse and I'm thrilled he's won. He wasn't really fully wound up by any means and had never even seen a fence until today." His immediate victim that day, Chosen Native, subsequently won a 'point' and he has displayed plenty of promise so far for Henrietta Knight. The third placed Jetnova later won at Summerhill for Philip Dempsey and he said that day: "This is a decent horse that has had no luck until now." Carribs Leap will be partnered by Tony McCoy in this two-miler and his main opposition is likely to come from Oliver Sherwood's once raced Dune Shine. This fellow was third on his debut at Ludlow back in November.
