The well-backed Casimiro took the Bulmers Live At Leopardstown Handicap, scoring under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons.

Previously trained by Roger Charlton, and successful on debut at Lingfield in April of 2017, the son of Casamento was bought by Gaelic Bloodstock for 42,000 guineas at Tattersalls last October.

An eye-catching sixth over the course and distance earlier this month, he was available at 13/2 in early shows, opening on-course at 9/4 before going off the 5/2 favourite.

Fifth two furlongs out, he was ridden to challenge in third a furlong from home, and got to the front inside the final 100 yards, keeping on well from there to score by a length and a half. Ice Cold In Alex (25/1) kept on to take second, while Gunmaker (10/1) and Mrs Ormsby (10/1) completed the placings in third and fourth respectively.

Lyons said afterwards: "They went a million miles an hour which suited and he stayed the trip well. He'd a bad draw here the last day so there is the improvement but you couldn't argue with his resolution.

"He travelled strongly and quickened when asked. He's not afraid to let me drop him back to six if I want to. Hopefully we can have a look at a Premier Handicap somewhere along the line."
