Cesarewitch on Alton's radar Peter Fahey's dual purpose performer Alton Bay is a possible for the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh on October 12. Subject to ground conditions, the 100,000 euro contest over two miles looks like being the next test for the six-year-old, who has paid his way this season with a number of fine efforts. Fourth in a maiden hurdle at Roscommon in June, the six-year-old went on to win a hurdle and a bumper at Ballinrobe before this attentions were switched to the Flat. That proved to his liking as he won at Tramore and Wexford, and he was last seen finishing second to the high-class Rebel Fitz over a mile and three-quarters at Listowel last weekend. Fahey said: "We've entered him for the Irish Cesarewitch and he'll go there as long as the ground stays some way dry. "He'll be left off then and has the option of coming back early next year to go hurdling."
