Champion Doubt Over Rakti

Rakti could finish his career in Hong Kong after heavy rain at Newmarket cast a serious doubt over his participation in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes.

The six-year-old retires to stud in Ireland at the end of the season and was due to have his European swansong in the 10-furlong event on Saturday.

However, the ground at Headquarters has turned soft and Rakti could now sidestep the Group One affair.

Trainer Michael Jarvis told At The Races: 'The final decision will rest with the owner Gary Tanaka. I suspect he won´t run but the final word is the owner´s.

'It´s unfortunate the ground has gone as this would have been his last race in Europe before he retires to stud in Ireland next year.

'There is a possibility he may go to Hong Kong in December, but the Breeders´ Cup Mile is not on the agenda.'
