Charlton wants to Test Golden Horn Roger Charlton is looking forward to the prospect of taking on Golden Horn with Time Test in the Juddmonte International at York next month. Time Test handled the step up to Group company with aplomb at Royal Ascot, barely coming off the bridle in winning the Tercentenary Stakes. Given he is owned by Khalid Abdullah, who sponsors the York race through his breeding operation, it was always going to be high on his agenda, but the race now looks even tougher with the Derby winner rerouted following his late defection from the King George at Ascot on Saturday. "I'm actually looking forward to it," Charlton told The Times. "I'm pleased Golden Horn didn't run on Saturday. There won't be many opportunities to take him on. "I considered a race in France but didn't want to subject a young horse to disrupted cross-Channel travel. "Quite a lot of my horses also had minor blood issues at that time, so it was sensible to wait. We have an alternative possibility at Deauville but York is much more likely. "The Juddmonte is a big step up from winning a Group Three but I think nine out of 10 people would say Time Test gave the most impressive performance at the Royal meeting. Timeform rated him above Gleneagles afterwards, so we have to aim high." Charlton also hopes to have his other stable star Al Kazeem back for Champions Day in October. "He's sound again and trotting," said Charlton. "He'll be rescanned this week and that will tell us if we can get more serious. Hopefully, we could have him back for the Champion Stakes."
