Cheltenham in the mix for Slattery's syndicate

Ladies Well (7/2) continues in fine fettle and today registered wins in three consecutive months, having landed Roscommon's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase for in-form trainer Andy Slattery and jockey Cian Quirke.

Successful at both Killarney's July and August festivals, six-year-old mare today out-battled Jolie Jewel from the second-last to score by 2.25 lengths, with 27 lengths back to third-placed Chosen Shant .

Recent Irish Cambridgeshire-winner Slattery, with three Listowel successes last week, was represented by brother and assistant Willie, who said “we were a bit disappointed the last day, when she was a bit slowly away and missed the first fence, although were delighted to see trainer Val O'Brien winning the race.

“She did that well today, has to have good ground and to be ridden like that. She's a brilliant jumper.

“The boys (Mrs Crogh's Syndicate, which includes former Tipperary hurler Lar Corbett) would like a day out so we might go to one of those meetings in Cheltenham off a light weight. Down Royal gets good ground and could be an option, but the boys like Cheltenham!”
