Chenchikova Dances To Debut Success

Chenchikova, a full-sister to multiple Group One winner High Chaparral, was an impressive winner on her racecourse bow at Tipperary.

Aidan O´Brien chose to give the Sadler´s Wells filly a relatively easy introduction in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (Fillies) Maiden rather than tackle some better class events at the weekend.

Chenchikova was uneasy in the market ahead of the seven-and-a-half-furlong contest, opening at 4-6 before going off the 5-4 market leader.

Kieren Fallon settled the filly in third and although he had to push her along a touch turning for home, the further she went, the more impressive she looked.

Chenchikova powered through in the final furlong to beat Nautical Design by an easy two lengths, earning a 20-1 quote for next year´s Oaks from Irish firm Cashmans.

O´Brien was not on hand to see Chenchikova but Fallon was very impressed with her debut.

He said: 'She did it well and I like her. She´s got a great attitude and she will appreciate going further.

'She will learn a lot from that run - this is a good track to educate horses.'

VC Bet go 20-1 from 33s for the 1000 Guineas while they make Chenchikova, who holds an engagement in Saturday week´s Meon Valley Stud Fillies´ Mile, a 16-1 chance for the Oaks.

Chenchikova has already gone one better than her brother as the Derby hero was beaten a short head on his juvenile debut.
