Chopin, set to be the first-ever runner to represent Germany in the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday, thrilled connections in his latest workout.

Trained by Andreas Wohler, who has landed big races all over the globe, the son of Santiago is due to be supplemented for the Classic on Monday.

He was bought by Sheikh Fahad Al Thani after winning a Group Three at Krefeld by eight lengths on his most recent outing and the horse he beat, Global Bang, was subsequently runner-up in the German 2000 Guineas.

Chopin will be ridden by Jamie Spencer.

The owner's racing manager David Redvers said: "Andreas Wohler just texted me to say that Chopin could not have worked better this morning and that he is starting to get very excited."
