City tops in Sprint City Light powered home to claim top honours in the Betway All-Weather Sprint at Lingfield. Trained in France by Stephane Wattel, the 8-1 shot raced wide throughout under Theo Bachelot, who cut a confident figure in the saddle. Kachy, the 11-8 favourite, kicked for home from the final bend, but City Light always had him in his sights and displayed a superior finishing kick to get up and score by a length and a half under his jubilant rider. City Light was a second French-trained winner on All-Weather Championships Finals Day following the victory of Funny Kid in the Betway All-Weather Marathon. Bachelot said: "He likes the strong pace and over 1,200 metres (six furlongs) he is very good. "He jumped well and I had a very good spot behind the favourite, Kachy, and I sat perfect on the corners behind him." Wattel said: "There is a lot of emotion, enjoyment and pleasure to win this race. "It is not the first time I have had a runner in England but it is my first winner. "It is a very big moment in my career." Wattel hopes City Light will receive clearance to run in the Far East. He said: "Hopefully we'll get an invitation to Hong Kong and hopefully they'll feel this was a strong race. "I'm very pleased with the ride Theo gave him. He rode a nice race and it is not an easy track to handle. "He was impressive at Chantilly last time and he has improved a lot on the all-weather. "I was not so worried about the draw as I was hoping he wouldn't be stuck on the inside. "I knew the draw wasn't the best but I knew he had the speed to follow any pace. "He has been very impressive since the autumn and as a four-year-old we can still have some dreams with him, which is the good thing about racing."
