Clonmacash (13/2) doubles his tally on the turf and gains a seventh career victory in the Friends of Moorefield GAA Handicap at the Curragh.

This was a good performance by the son of Charming Thought was carrying top weight and was also 8 lbs above his last winning turf mark.

Sam Coen had his mount positioned in mid-division on the stands side for most of this race before asking for his effort over two furlongs out.

Ado McGuinness' charge started to stay on strongly inside the final furlong and managed to get up on the line to deny Rosato (17/2) by a short head for Mark Devlin, J Mackle, and the Skylark Racing Syndicate. Irish Rumour was beaten by half a length in third.

"The bigger the field the better. This was like trying to win a Grand National there was that many runners in it! He loves getting into trouble, loves a fast pace. He is a real legend of a horse. We were 2lb wrong going to Laytown - we needed to be 0-70 or 0-80 but that should get him into the Qualified Riders race in Laytown. The boys are mad keen to go there so that's where he'll go next,” reported Ado McGuinnes.

“He's been a great horse for us. He's solid all the time. Great horse at home. Just a lovely horse to have in the yard. He'll always get you the few winners every year. He loves the all-weather as well. We just campaign him away and give him a few breaks here and there through the year.

“Fair play, Mark Devlin and a brother of mine and a cousin own him. They've had great fun out of him. This young kid, Sam Coen, is top class. He has won six times on the horse."
