Sam Coen produced the Ado McGuinness trained Clonmacash from off the pace to take the concluding Kwiff: Proud Sponsors Of The Supercharge Series Handicap at the Curragh.

Dropped out towards rear in the early stages, Coen made headway to track the leaders over a furlong-and-a-half out.

Ridden to go third with less than 200 yards to race, Clonmacash came through to challenge Emerald Harmony close home.

The pair hit the line together with the subsequent photo deeming Clonmacash the winner by a short head.

Ado McGuinness said: “The plan for this lad was to go to the beach and we weren’t going to get in, so we said we’d run him here. It was a last-minute decision.

“Hopefully he doesn’t go up too much. Mark (Devlin) loves Laytown and he’ll go there.

“He’s not a five (furlong) horse but we took a chance, and I knew if they went quick it would suit him. Sam gave him a super ride, and we needed the 7lb.”
