Solly Attwell availed of a patient and confident ride from Jordan Gainford to claim the handicap chase over an extended two-miles-seven-furlongs at Downpatrick. Betty Dutton the 9/4 favourite, and Jumping Susie both departed at the first fence and the loose horse remained with the field throughout.

Solly Attwell was hampered at the first and was well off the pace, but Gainford made steady headway into third approaching the last and the 12/1 shot grabbed the lead entering the straight and stayed on well to win by six lengths. Midnight Moonshine finished second at 8/1 and was five lengths in front of Tell Nobody Nothin (13/2).

This brought up a double for Cian Collins who saddled 3/1 favourite Sporting Glance to win race fourth. Ironically, both these horses also gave Collins a double at Galway on 8th September.

Cian Collins said: "Plenty going on there and it was an absolutely brilliant ride by Jordan, he never panicked and it just worked out brilliant for him.

"They went a good gallop and he's a good honest horse. He jumped well bar maybe a couple up the back, he put down a bit on them.

"He's a stayer and sure hopefully he will progress.

"He doesn't want winter ground - he doesn't want it too quick or too soft. He'll stay going for a while, and we will pick and choose where we go with him."
