Tracey Collins is keeping her fingers crossed a long-term plan comes to fruition when Captain Joy shoots for top honours in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Mile Championships at Lingfield.

The six-year-old endured a largely disappointing campaign on turf in 2014, but registered successive wins on the Dundalk all-weather in October and December and completed a hat-trick in one of Lingfield's Fast Track Qualifiers after the turn of the year.

He was beaten at odds-on on his return to Dundalk a month ago, but is reported to be in good order ahead of his Good Friday mission under Pat Smullen.

Collins told At The Races: "He travelled well and we're happy with the draw (stall one), it's almost too good, but we won't give out about that!

"With Pat on board you don't have to give too many instructions.

"It's great to have a horse who's entitled to be there and hopefully he'll put up a good show. If he wins it's a bonus.

"We made a conscious decision back in November this was the race we were going to target.

"I wouldn't mind another one or two in the yard like him."

Captain Joy features in a 12-runner field for the £150,000 contest, with Sovereign Debt and Grey Mirage among his opponents.
