Luke Comer's son and namesake trained his first winner when Great Grey (25/1) prevailed in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden at Tipperary under Chris Hayes.

On start two the son of Famous Name stepped up on his Navan fifth placing from June 6th, to defeat the favourite Proud And Elated by a length and a half. Bercasa was the first of Tom Mullins' trio home, four lengths off the front pair in third.

Winning trainer Luke W Comer's aforementioned father saddled the sixth home, Scarlet Seymour (5/1 into 7/2).

"I took out my licence in April and have only had seven runners. He's a nice horse. He needed the run the first time and has come on immensely. Chris said he does want the ground a bit softer," stated the successful handler.

"I have 12 horses in training near Dunboyne and I'm absolutely delighted to get off the mark. We'll see what handicap mark he gets and go on from there."

Great Grey is owned and was bred by Comer's mother Margaret.
