Kalanisi Star (2/1) registered consecutive impressive Gowran wins today as the Oliver McKiernan-trained gelding landed the Proficient Engineering Irish EBF Maiden Hurdle on his hurdles debut.

A point-to-point winner for previous handler Alan Ahern at Corbeagh House last December, the five year old was a 16 lengths bumper winner at today's venue last March and today, under Philip Enright, defeated dual bumper winner Pink In The Park by 2.25 lengths.

Afterwards McKiernan stated “he’s a grand horse, he just eats and sleeps, does his work and wastes no energy. He’s very relaxed.

“I think he’ll come on from that run and will appreciate going further as well. He obviously likes it here as he won his bumper here as well.

“I’m not sure where we’ll go after here. If the ground is soft enough in Leopardstown he’ll probably go there. He travels through the soft stuff.”
