Racing at Cork this afternoon goes ahead following an early morning inspection at the southern venue.

Officials decided to call an inspection due to the forecast for overnight rain and, despite 13mm in the past 24 hours, the action goes ahead with the first on an eight-race card taking place at 1.45pm.

The going is heavy.

The main focus of attention today is obviously Fairyhouse where the Boylesports Irish Grand National goes to post at 5pm.

The going is now officially heavy for the 3m5f feature, and Gordon Elliott saddles 13 of the 30 runners with half a million euro in total prize-money up for grabs.

There was 9mm of rain overnight and showers are forecast during the day.

Racing begins at 2.10pm and the eight-race card also includes three Grade 2 events.

Meanwhile today's East Antrim point-to-point also got the green light after an inspection at 8am.
