Cosmic Funk lands cosy success at Gowran Park The Pat Murphy-trained Cosmic Funk was yet another decisive winner on the day when taking the second division of the Racing Club Membership Handicap at Gowran Park for owner Fergal Conroy. Ridden by Conor Cusack, the 6/1 chance came out of the pack to lead inside the final furlong and at the line had two and a quarter lengths to spare over 5/1 joint-favourite Tarrif. His trainer Conor Maxwell was also second with Survivor's Code in the first division of the same race. Murphy said, “The ground was soft enough for him there and the visors helped. He can be a bit lazy so they just helped keep him in Conor's hands. “He gave him a great ride and is great value for his claim. He's a young lad that looks like he's going to have a bright future. “The horse just needs things to go his way and back down in grade they went his way today. “It was great to get the win out of him for Fergal Conroy who is a new owner in the yard. He was unlucky here two runs ago when he got into trouble on the rail but it was a lot more straightforward today.”
