Cosmos completes cross-card double for Elliott It was all very straightforward for 1/2 favourite Cosmos D'ainay in the concluding Summer Is Coming Sligo INH Flat Race, as he completed a cross-card double for Gordon Elliott. A faller at the second last when still in with every chance on his sole point-to-point start at Ballysteen, the Muhtathir chestnut was then purchased by current connections for 165,000 pounds. Carried out on his racecourse debut at Clonmel in March, the five-year-old subsequently finished third at the Powerstown Park venue. Widely expected to make the breakthrough this evening, the KTDA Racing-owned victor was never far from the pace under Josh Williamson and made his way to the front with three-furlongs to go. Easing clear in the straight, he eventually came home 14-lengths to the good, with Shudawudacuddagh (11/2) filling the runner-up spot under Stephen Connor for James Fahey. "He did it very nicely. Obviously on his form he should have done that but he was straightforward enough," Williamson commented. "He got a bit lit up with me passing the stands with a circuit to go but he picked up well and it was simple enough the whole way. "It felt like he likes good ground. Obviously he should get further on point-to-point form and he should be a nice horse going forward." Elliott was earlier successful with Mordor at Killarney. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
