Cross country race rescheduled for January Cheltenham has confirmed that the cross-country race, postponed from Friday's meeting due to unsuitable ground, has been rescheduled for Festival Trials Day in January. The move was approved after consultations with the sponsor Glenfarclas, the British Horseracing Authority and trainers on both sides of the Irish Sea. "Following the postponement of the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase at The Open due to the ground being unfit for racing on the cross-country course, the race has been rescheduled for Festival Trials Day on Saturday, January 28," said clerk of the course Simon Claisse. "It is not unusual to have eight-race cards at our January fixtures, usually due to restaging principal races from abandoned racedays, so an extended programme on Festival Trials Day will not pose any problems." A field of 10 has been declared for the Glenfarclas Veterans' Handicap Chase that replaces the cross-country race on day one of the Open meeting on Friday.
