Crowd and Totes increase on opening night

A bumper crowd of 19,214 came through the gates for the opening night of the Galway festival at Ballybrit.

The figure was up 275 on last year's total of 18,939 for the same day.

The Tote also showed a healthy increase on last year's total with an aggregate of €782,346.

This was €43,406 up on last year's figure of €738,940.

The bookmakers figures were slightly down however with €1,208,418 through the ring as compared to €1,242,229 last year. A drop of €33,811.
