Crowd and betting down again For the third successive day the attendance was slightly down at the western venue, with 19,253 racegoers compared with 20,446 on “Plate” day last year. The tough economic times continue to affect betting figures, with the Tote aggregate down over 13% at €839,863 compared with €970,472 on the corresponding day last year. The bookmakers ring was also down, a significant drop of over half a million on last year's takings. €1,956,138 went through the ring this year as opposed to €2,491,153 in 2010. A fall of €535,015.
