Crowley on Ile De Re again at Newcastle The John Smith's Northumberland Plate has a slightly different look to it this morning after a couple of significant non-runners. Yesterday's rain at the track, falling after watering had taken place at Gosforth Park, has changed ground conditions to 'Good to Soft' with William Haggas' Sun Central and David Simcock's Montaser both withdrawn due to the going. Newcastle clerk of the course James Armstrong tweeted: "Ground @NewcastleRaces is now GOOD to SOFT after a dry night. Course given a light roll & may dry a touch further today." Jim Crowley, who won the race last year aboard Ile De Re, will now ride Donald McCain's horse again this afternoon as he was initially due to ride non-runner Montaser.
