The Jim Culloty trained Crown Of Gold gained a second career winner at Limerick today but unfortunately returned lame following his win in the David Fitzgerald Memorial Handicap Hurdle under jockey Andrew Lynch.

The son of Flemensfirth arrived into contention from the second last flight and in the end stayed on well to beat heavily backed 5/4 favourite Turbojet by a length and a half.

Crown Of Gold gained his only previous win at the Listowel festival in September 2016 and returned to action at the Galway Festival last August, following a ten month layoff. Today, unfortunately, the eight year old gelding pulled up lame shortly after passing the winning line.
