Cumani Hoping For Star Performance

Newmarket trainer Luca Cumani believes Starcraft will have to step up on his Prix Du Moulin display to threaten the likes of Dubawi and Rakti in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Australian horse made all the running under Christophe Lemaire to beat Gorella in good style by two and a half lengths in the French Group One contest.

However, Cumani said: 'He beat a good field in the Moulin but not as good as the one on Saturday. So, he still has to improve a little bit to take on Dubawi and Rakti.'

When asked to compare Starcraft with his 2003 QEII winner Falbrav, Cumani said they were 'very similar'.

He added: 'Falbrav, perhaps, had a more composed temperament and he was an easier horse to deal with, from a psychological point of view.

'Starcraft is not as composed as Falbrav but he is equally as strong and powerful. I think I´ve seen him do equally good pieces of work and he has a tremendous turn of foot just like Falbrav.'
