Curragh to hold a precautionary inspection

The Curragh will hold a precautionary inspection on Friday morning at 7am ahead of their big two-day fixture at the weekend.

The track is currently raceable and the going is described as heavy.

The feature race at the Curragh this weekend is the Group 1 Darley Irish Oaks on Sunday.

The track was hit with a further 7.2mm of rain overnight, and manager Paul Hensey today tweeted some interesting rainfall stats for the track this year.

"Monthly rainfall figures March 21.2mm, April 88.7mm, May 47.6mm, June 170.5mm (avg.65mm), July 85mm to date(avg.73mm)!"
