D´Allier Primed For Hennessy Trainer Alan King has given Kandjar d´Allier the go-ahead to tackle the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday week. The seven-year-old made a hugely impressive reappearance at Cheltenham last week when finishing third behind Our Vic and Monkerhostin in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. King had been mulling over whether to send Kandjar d´Allier for the Newbury feature or take up an alternative engagement in the John Hughes Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle on the same day. However, the Barbury Castle handler said: 'He only lost three kilos for his Cheltenham run and we are seriously favouring the Hennessy now. 'I know he´s run three really good races at Cheltenham but he´s only gone up 2lb for Saturday and I think we´ll let him step up in trip in the Newbury race.'(C) PA Sport
