Daddy Long Legs regains the winning thread Daddy Long Legs recorded a fifth career win but his first in 19 months when landing odds of 8/11 in the opening McHale ProPel Hurdle at Ballinrobe. The Almanzor gelding, trained by Willie Mullins for Marie Donnelly, tracked the leaders until Paul Townend decided to make his move after the final flight. The odds-on shot squeezed through between horses off the final bend and soon asserted away from Thecompanysergeant to beat that rival by three and three-quarter lengths. Faren Glory kept on just a neck further back in third. Townend said, "He'd a lot in his favour, given the conditions of the race, and they've done a beautiful job with the ground. "I was able to follow them around at my ease, and it's brilliant to get him back in the winners' enclosure. He'd run well a few times, and had been keeping good company, since his last win. "He's a high-class horse and although the cheekpieces did him no harm, he probably would have won without them today. "He wasn't too keen, even with the cheekpieces, so had no problem with the trip, and it's good that he'll allow himself the chance to go further if we need to in future." Quotes by Mark Nunan
