A 50/1 winner over the course and distance in June, Real Petite landed a second success over eight furlongs at Gowran Park in the opening division of the Racing Club Membership Handicap this afternoon.

Again ridden by Jimmy Dalton for owner Rita Byrne and trainer Tom Mullins, the four-year-old was only a 5/1 chance this time and she had a little in hand in beating the Conor Maxwell-trained 12/1 shot Survivor's Code , a winner over seven furlongs at the track in April, by four lengths.

Medieval Night was a half a length away in third for Denis Hogan, also at odds of 12/1.

Real Petite was another winner for County Tipperary apprentice Dalton who rode the first double of his career at Leopardstown yesterday.

Tom Mullins said, “She won here and she was a little bit unlucky here the last day. She should have been second.

“She's a little bit tentative and doesn't like being boxed in. If they close in on her she stops. The young lad (Jimmy Dalton) is very good. He's a fella that could go to the top.

“He gave her a lovely ride the day she won and he gave her a lovely ride again today. He's very cool.

“She went down to a 44 rating now and the handicapper gave her a chance again to win.

“We got the best 7lb claimer at the moment in Ireland to ride her and he gave her a good ride and it worked out. I don't know where we are going after this but we'll be glad with what we got anyway.”
