Jimmy Dalton posted the second winner of his career aboard Sovereign Banter in the Russell Williamson Cauchemar Handicap over six furlongs.

The pair got a lovely spot from stall two and grabbed the lead approaching the final furlong. Dalton drove him in by three-parts of a length at 4/1 from runner-up Nikki Swango (13/2). Lismacbryan Hill was another two and a-half lengths back in third at 6/1.

Andy Slattery said: "Lovely position and kept it simple.

"He's running consistently well lately and he deserved that.

"That's Jimmy's second winner. He thanked Kay (Russell) for giving him the ride on him.

"We ran him here last week and we thought dropping back in trip would suit. Tough draw but he was a winner a furlong and a-half down the last day even.

"We are going to keep going for the winter now, five and six furlongs, and keep him at it.

"He can only come into the handicap proper, the handicapper will give him a few pounds but he is out of the handicap."
