Danny Mullins provided his sponsor Tote Ireland with a perfect result today, when combining with uncle Willie Mullins for a treble on Predators Gold (11/2) in Navan’s appropriately-titled Watch Danny's Diary @ToteRacing Beginners Chase.

Champion trainer Willie Mullins and stable jockey Paul Townend were successful with Il Etait Temps in Sandown’s Tingle Creek Chase today, with nephew Mullins filling in at Navan.

Having bagged wins on the yard’s Saint Baco and a Grade 2 success on Doctor Steinberg Mullins completed his Navan hat-trick on prominent-racing Predators Gold who got the better of 2024 Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Slade Steel to score by 1.5 lengths.

Regarding the race named in his honour, jockey Mullins reported “All the guys are over for the day from Tote Ireland and it is important that we have good sponsors like that in racing. We are delighted to be winning a few races on the day.”

Regarding Predators Gold, who was having his first run for 582 days, he added “That is a Willie Mullins masterpiece, as he was nearly a year and a-half off the track and then comes back to win a race like that, beating Slade Steel and Wingmen (third). It is a fair beginners' chase and we picked up (pace-wise) down the straight.

“I was in a great rhythm and he just kept jumping. If you are finding a rhythm and getting lengths in the air, it is always the thing to keep doing it.

“It was a serious performance and he's a very good horse. I had ridden him in Cheltenham and disappointed but Patrick (Mullins) rode him afterwards in a Grade 1 at Punchestown where he finished third.

“That is a fine starting point. He had been competitive in Grade 1s as a novice hurdler so you'd imagine, with the way he jumped today, he should be able to do the same and step up over fences."
