Darkness Falls lights up Curragh opener The Aidan O'Brien-trained Darkness Falls (4/6) was an all-the-way winner of the John Ormond Wexford Sand Irish European Breeders Fund Maiden. The two-year-old son of Camelot was a promising third on debut at Leopardstown, in which the second has gone on and won, and it was a no-nonsense performance as he made all and kept on strongly inside the final furlong to win by seven lengths under jockey Ryan Moore Speaking after the race, trainer Aidan O'Brien said: “He had a lovely run the first day. He's a Camelot with a lot of class. He's a beautiful mover, so ground won't matter to him. When Ryan said ‘go’, it was over very quick. We thought he was good. The maiden he ran in at Leopardstown was a very good race. We thought the second was very good, and the winner was just beaten in the Futurity. He's in the mix for the Golden Fleece at Leopardstown.
