Date set for Clonmel whip appeals The Davy Russell and Philip Enright appeals against the 5 day suspensions they picked up for exchanging a whip during a race at Clonmel last week will be heard at 3pm on Tuesday 16th December. The suspension dates take in the weekend before Christmas and the first three days of the Leopardstown and Limerick holiday Festivals. Both riders were found to be in breach of Rule 272 relating to bringing the sport into disrepute. Neither rider's mount figured in the finish of the Clonmel race and as a consequence Russell never got to use the whip he took from Enright before jumping the second flight of hurdles. The Philip Fenton appeal hearing into the severity of his three year disqualification imposed by the Referrals Committee of the Turf Club will also be heard next Tuesday morning at 10am.
