Bright New Dawn proved the class act when running out an effortless winner of the Suir Valley Chase at Clonmel this evening.

Gordon Elliott 's charge made little impression in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham on his last outing and appreciate the drop in grade. Westerners Son took them along in the two-and-a-half mile contest and soon opened up a healthy advantage.

He came back to the field at what was the last fence (normally three from home) with the two fences in the home straight taken out due to a low lying sun.

Bryan Cooper, recording a double on the card, let 5/4 favourite Bright New Dawn take it up early in the straight and he was soon on top, going for a 12-length win.

"He was entitled to win on ratings and that will get his confidence up,” said Cooper.

"The fences being out did him no harm but that's as far as he wants and I'd say he'll come back in trip rather than up."
