Brighterdaysahead looked a very smart recruit for Gordon Elliott when running out an impressive winner of the concluding bumper at Gowran Park this afternoon.

The Kapgarde filly, a half-sister to the yard's exciting novice chaser Mighty Potter, was well supported on her debut from 11/2 this morning into 2/1.

She came to dispute, on the bridle, turning for home and led travelling best passing the two pole.

Harry Swan asked his mount to quicken away at the furlong marker and she stretched clear in style in the closing stages to post a cosy 13-length success over 50/1 shot Vicky Victoria

7/4 favourite Iris Emery faded in the straight and was eventually pulled up.

The Gigginstown-owned winner was a €310,000 purchase at the Derby Sale last June.

Elliott was point-to-pointing in Oldtown and assistant trainer Ian Amond said afterwards:-

"She is bred to be smart but until they go and do it you, you don't really know. She was very impressive.

"I was watching it at the last fence and she was three or four lengths clear but didn't realise she won by 13. She was getting plenty weight being a four year old but you couldn't be anything but impressed by her.

"She has size and scope and will fill out and is one to look forward to. We'll see what Gordon and the owners want to do next in a few weeks time."

It was a double on the card for Elliott following the earlier victory of Fil Dor
