Days to be assessed after German flop Success Days is going to be thoroughly checked out following a "bitterly disappointing" display on his return in Germany on Sunday. Though nothing immediately came to light after the dual Group Three-winning grey was beaten 33 lengths in last place behind Ito in the Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich, the run was so bad that trainer Ken Condon is convinced something is wrong. It was Success Days' first run since he was injured in the Investec Derby at Epsom in June. "We're going to have him checked out fully. Obviously he ran a shocker," said Condon. "He travelled over very well. He looked well and we were happy with his preparation, but, for whatever reason that is not immediately obvious, he ran no race. "He was bitterly disappointing. We are just scratching our heads a little bit. "He's on his way home and when he gets home we're going to investigate it further with our own veterinary team and see if something comes to light. "There's nothing obvious. He is still sound, but he was beaten too far out. "Shane (Foley) was never particularly happy with him. Halfway down the back with six furlongs to run, he wasn't happy so we need to find out. "He'll obviously have to have a break now and we'll regroup and plan when we know a bit more. "I'm absolutely confident something is going to turn up. We'll have to isolate it and see what the issue is."
