Henry de Bromhead thought Special Tiara failed to handle the Cheltenham ground as he could finish only third in the Shloer Chase on Sunday.

The nine-year-old was beaten 18 lengths by Fox Norton in the two-mile heat and De Bromhead felt the soft ground had gone against his charge.

He said: "He seemed to struggle on the ground.

"Noel said it was very tacky and he just seemed to struggle on it. I think the Tingle Creek will come too soon for him."
