Deans Road the 11/8 favourite, secured a wide-margin success in the four-runner novice chase over two and a half miles at Listowel.

Davy Russell sent him into the lead from the outsider Kemboy at the seventh last. The pair travelled well setting out on their final circuit with six fences to jump.

Kemboy raced in second with Tiger Roll third. The latter blundered at the sixth last which saw him lose ground.

A good jump at the third last by Deans Road saw Kemboy and Tiger Roll come off the bridle as they were left behind in second and third respectively.

Deans Road popped the second last well clear and eased home by 12 lengths. He had been popular in morning trading.

Kemboy hit the last fence very hard and dropped to third on the run-in as Tiger Roll passed him to be a remote second.

Davy Russell said: "It was a messy race but he did it nicely. I'd have preferred more pace and he was quite idle in front. Henry (de Bromhead) had him spot on today and did a marvellous job."

Regarding his recent appointment as Dai Walters' retained jockey, he said: "It's something to look forward to and if we come across a good horse we'll be delighted."

Tocororo was a notable non-runner due to a stone bruise.
