Deegan hoping for big Sho Paul Deegan feels once-raced maiden Shoellen is capable of making her presence felt in Sunday's Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh. The Curragh-based trainer could have taken an easier route with his daughter of Wootton Bassett, who shaped with plenty of promise when third at Cork at the start of this month. However, with just seven horses heading to post for this Group Three contest, Deegan sees it as a good opportunity to pick up some black type with a filly he holds in high regard. "She's a filly we've always thought was quite smart and we think a bit of her," said the trainer. "I was very happy with her first run, it's obviously a step up and if she can run into a place we'll be delighted. "She's really a seven-furlong filly, but a stiff six at the Curragh on slow ground should suit her well." The field includes the Jim Bolger-trained Smash Williams, so impressive over course and distance on debut last weekend, Jessica Harrington's Rockaway Valley and Al Qahwa from Mick Halford's yard.
