Denman back cantering after fall

Paul Nicholls reports Denman to be cantering again following his dramatic fall at Aintree last Thursday.

The 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner sustained a cut high on his off-fore leg when coming down at the second-last fence when alongside eventual winner Madison Du Berlais in the totesport Bowl.

"Denman's back cantering and he seems in great form," said the Ditcheat trainer.

"I didn't want to pull the wool over anyone's eyes about how he is, but he really seems fine.

"He's a little sore, but if it was in the middle of the season you could run him again.

"He won't run again this season and he, Kauto Star and the others will be out in a field by the second week of May."

Denman had previously finished second behind Kauto Star in a gallant effort to land back-to-victories in the Gold Cup after missing most of the campaign with a heart problem.
