Dial Me In gets up late to make winning debut The Joseph O'Brien trained Dial Me In got up in the dying strides to make a winning debut in the opening Irish EBF Auction Series Race at Leopardstown. Well supported from a morning price of 7/1 down to 3/1, the newcomer had to do it the hard way, having missed the break. Declan McDonogh was patient on the Awtaad colt, giving him plenty of time to recover and get back into the race. Pushed along to go fourth over a furlong out, the colt looked booked for minor honours at best, as She's Too Kool came through to challenge leader Sound Bite. The latter rallied from the front under Gary Carroll, kicking on again over 150 yards out. However, Dial Me In got going late under McDonogh, staying on strongly up the inner rail to win by a head. Stable representative Michael Halford said: “It didn’t really go to plan early on. He was very slow out and Declan just had to be patient on him. “The gaps opened and he showed a great attitude and just got there in time at the line. “He showed a lot of courage and guts to do what he did. “He completely missed the kick and he was down to plan b or c at that stage. “He had shown up well in a barrier trial and we’re delighted with that.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
