Dinos Bows Out Mr Dinos, winner of the 2003 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, has been retired. The six-year-old, who was trained by Paul Cole, was a six-length winner of the Group One prize to add to his earlier success in the Henry II Stakes. However, Mr Dinos had endured mixed fortunes since his Ascot win, failing to score in six subsequent starts and suffering with injury problems. 'He was the best stayer I ever trained,' Cole told the Racing Post. 'He´s a horse who owes us nothing, and the best thing to do is retire him. 'He looked a wonder horse the day he won the Gold Cup. He simply outstayed them from five furlongs out, which is how he liked to win his races, and you have to be a tough horse to do it like that. 'He broke down in the 2004 Gold Cup and he was never quite the same afterwards. 'We brought him back for this year´s Gold Cup, and we actually thought he was the on way back, given how well he ran at York, but he went wrong again after that. 'At the moment he´s for sale, and the plan is to find a nice home for him at stud. We certainly won´t allow him to race again.' ? PA Sport
