Dodging Bullets has suffered a setback and will miss his intended seasonal debut in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in a fortnight's time.

However, trainer Paul Nicholls reports it to be only a minor problem and is hopeful the Queen Mother Champion Chase hero will be fit enough to bid to repeat last year's victory in the Tingle Creek at Sandown in early December.

Nicholls said: "Dodging Bullets will not now make his debut for the season in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham a fortnight today as he has a minor setback."

He added: "He has just thrown a splint on his off foreleg. It is not a serious issue and he has not missed too much work so far.

"But the timing is unfortunate as he needs a couple of easy weeks, so running him at Cheltenham is obviously out of the question.

"Dodging Bullets is a bit sore on the splint at the moment. But with normal progress it should soon settle down and we will try to get him ready for the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 5.

"We will keep everyone updated on his progress."
