Donaghue-Leahy shines on Cielo Gallo Dell Cielo stayed on well under a strong ride from Robyn Donaghue-Leahy to land the apprentice handicap at Dundalk. The Pat Flynn-trained gelding hit the front turning for home in the mile-and-a-half contest and was asked for an effort passing the two pole. He drifted left under pressure over a furlong from home but the 15/2 shot stayed on strongly in the closing stages to record a length-and-a-quarter win over Doctor Grace. It was a second course and distance win for Gallo Del Cielo and his third career victory. The winning rider said: "When I got into the home straight, I was hoping to pinch a few lengths on them. "He was good and tough the whole way. A little bit (wandered), but very resolute. You couldn't fault him there, he never lay down. "Oh definitely (dangerous in that grade) - to be honest, I've been waiting to come back here all year. If you took this year out of it, he's probably the form horse in the race and back into that grade. "I can't see why he wouldn't progress from it. I'd say he enjoyed that." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
