Doncaster's clerk of the course Roderick Duncan is expecting a further ease in the ground before racing gets under way on the final day of the St Leger meeting.

The Ladbrokes-sponsored Classic is due off at 3.45pm and while the ground has eased slightly to good overnight, Duncan is anticipating some further softening of conditions.

He said: "There was 5.5 millimetres of rain overnight up to 8.30am and light rain is continuing to fall. The rain is now forecast to stop at 11am and we should have a dry day after that.

"The current going description is good, although I would expect it to ease further as the morning progresses.

"I will make a further assessment of conditions later this morning."

Bondi Beach and Storm The Stars currently dispute favouritism for the Classic.
