Down Royal Delay Inspection

Officials at Down Royal have delayed their planned 7.30am inspection until 10am.

They had been concerned by the threat of frost but fog is now hindering their ability to assess conditions at the track.

The Irish Turf Club's Cliff Noone said: 'They are going to defer a decision until 10am as there is fog and they can't be sure one way or the other.

'They will be keeping an eye on it until 10am but they tell me they can't see enough at present to make a decision.'

Noone reports there to have been some improvement at the track and clerk of the course Ion Hamilton hopes to make a decision by 10.30am.

'Ion is going to inspect the track at 10am and he expects to make a decision by 10.30am' said Noone.

'There has been a slight improvement and the sun is trying to burn through but they need the temperature to rise a degree or two.'
