Dubai Destination heads for Goodwood

Dubai Destination heads a team of five Godolphin entrants in next Tuesday`s Letheby & Christopher Predominate Stakes at Goodwood.

The #35,000 one mile, three furlong event is the last recognised major trial for the Vodafone Derby and has attracted a field of 16 at today`s entry stage.

As well as Dubai Destination, who beat subsequent Sagitta 2000 Guineas winner Rock Of Gibraltar with some ease in the Rothmans Royals Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September, but has not been seen out since, Sheikh Mohammed`s outfit have also put in Al Moulatham, Kashmor, Kriskova, and Wadmaan.

Al Moulatham is the shortest-priced of the Godolphin quintet for the Epsom Classic, quoted at just 12-1 with the Tote.

Sir Michael Stoute is represented by Gamut, winner of a Newbury maiden over this trip last month and generally a 25-1 chance for Epsom.

Michael Jarvis has entered Guineas disappointment Coshocton, while Gerard Butler relies on Feilden Stakes winner Playapart, who disappointed at Chester last time but whose Newmarket form was given a boost by Bollin Eric, who finished second in the Dante Stakes at York on Wednesday.

Another Predominate contender, the Marcus Tregoning-trained Highdown, also had his form franked by the result of the Dante.

Tregoning`s charge is not engaged in the Derby but beat the York victor Moon Ballad on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket and the trainer is hopeful of another good run.

'Highdown will run next Tuesday,' he said today. 'He`s very well - I`m very pleased with him. He`s a nice horse.'

The going for the three-day meeting is now good to firm and officials will water the track if necessary - although they are keeping an eye on the weather.

'There`s going to be a few thundery showers around on Friday and Saturday so we have to be a bit cautious,' said clerk of the course Rod Fabricius.

'We are happy enough with the entries all round - Highdown would be an interesting runner in the Predominate.'
