Duff heads for Donny again on Saturday

Duff will attempt to keep up his good record in the APC Industrial Services Park Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.

The eight-year-old won this Group Two contest in 2009, having just been touched off in 2007 and was a close fourth 12 months ago.

Although trainer Edward Lynam admits his stable stalwart is not the force he used to be, he feels obliged to run in the race for a fourth time, especially as just five runners go to post.

"He's getting on a bit in years. He's not as good as he once was, but he's run in that race three times," said the County Meath handler.

"He's won it, he's been beaten in a photo in it and he was beaten less than a length when fourth last year.

"With only five left in it, it would be madness not to let him take his chance."

Balthazaar's Gift came out on top last year and is reported to be in top shape by his trainer Clive Cox, who is hoping conditions do not deteriorate.

"He's in very good form. I just hope conditions aren't too slow for him. He prefers the ground on the quicker side, but he won this very well last year," said Cox.

"I'm hopeful with a couple of runs under his belt on less than perfect ground that he can give a very good account of himself.

"There are very few entries and I'm pleased he goes there in good nick."
